Prior to the start of the regular season, the New York Mets had some high hopes for 2024. With just a bit more than a quarter of the regular season in the rearview, they sit in third place in the NL East at 21-25. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Guardians sit atop of the AL Central, which happens to be currently the most competitive division in baseball, at 30-17. Now, going back a bit, the Mets had their way in this Inter League rivalry. As a matter fact, they swept the Guardians in a three-game series in 2019 and then again in 2023. I think we can all agree these are two very different teams this season. Cleveland owns one of the best overall records in baseball, are also monsters at home, sporting a 15-6 mark at Progressive Field. Both at the plate and on the mound, the Guardians outclass the Mets. They average more than a half-run more per game offensively, while they're pitching staff has a significantly lower ERA. Speaking of pitching, Tylor McGill and Ben Lively are scheduled. The New York right-hander is set the return after four innings of a season debut back on March 31. He was dealing with a shoulder issue. The Cleveland right-hander owns a respectable record of 3-2 with a very solid ERA of 2.25 in five appearances, which includes four as a starter against the Mets. Oh, by the way this season, he is 2-2 with a 3.06 ERA. Take Cleveland. Thank you.

Ironically, Boston comes in here winning their last game following a four-game losing streak, while Tampa Bay enters this series losing their last outing following a four-game winning streak. To say the Rays have dominated the Red Sox would be an understatement. They have taken eight of the last 10 meetings in this Division rivalry, which doesn't include three of four matchups this season. Scheduled today are Tanner Houck and Taj Bradley. The Boston right-hander is 3-5 with a 2.17 ERA on the campaign. Not the worst numbers for sure. However, in six career appearances, which includes four starts against Tampa Bay, he is 0-4 with a 5.91 ERA. This does include a May 15, Red Sox 4-3 loss. The Rays right-hander is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA, and won Wednesday's game. And in three career starts against Boston, he is a perfect 3-0. I just see the Red Sox going back on a slide, while the Rays, following a unique loss, start a new hot streak. Take the home team here. Take Tampa Bay. Thank you.

Guys, I am well aware the White Sox are the worst team in baseball, at 14-33. I also know they own a dismal, 4-19 road record as well. But I have to say it very simply…Why are the Blue Jays a two-dollar favorite here? It makes no sense to me. Granted, Toronto plays in the most competitive division in baseball. But they're still dwelling in the American League East cellar, at 20-25, which does include a 10-11 record at home. To go one further, I saw the trend of the Blue Jays taking the last seven meetings with the White Sox as well. Statistically, these are the two worst offenses in the Major Leagues. They rank 30th and 29th in runs scored. And both pitching staffs are about the same in Team ERA. The difference here in my opinion is the starting pitching. Chicago will send Erick Fedde to the hill, while Toronto has Jose Berrios on the mound. The White Sox right-hander will try to extend his 13-inning scoreless streak. He is 4-0 with a 2.60 ERA on the campaign. And in his career, he is 2-0 with a 3.77 ERRA in three starts against Toronto. The Blue Jays right-hander is 4-3 with a 2.82 ERA in 2024. But the team is just 1-3 over his last four starts. I just don't see Toronto being this much of a favorite against anyone, my friends. Especially against a team with a better starting pitcher. Oh, by the way, the White Sox have won four consecutive games in which Fedde has started. Take Chicago. Thank you.

While the WNBA is still young league, there are certain things we can take for granted each season. For instance, there are usually a few teams that catapult to the top of each Conference right away as soon as the season begins, and stay there through the end of the campaign. Last season each Conference had two teams that finished the regular season with winning records; the Liberty and Sun in the East, and Aces and Wings in the West. I don't think it's a far stretch to say even though they've only played a few games so far, some of these teams are certainly on the same path. Currently, the Eastern Conference has the Liberty and the Sun both undefeated, while in the Western Conference the Aces in the Lynx are perfect. Then there is every other team in the league, my friends. Connecticut has dominated Indiana, taking nine consecutive meetings in a row SU, going 6-3 ATS. This does include a May 14 meeting this season in which the Suns prevailed, 92-71 at home as a 6.5-point favorite. They had a close game with the Mystics in their last outing. Despite winning, they failed to cover by a single point. I look for them to come out and flex their muscles against a team that is winless in three contests already. I know Caitlin Clark is all the buzz these days. And while she's putting up points, she gets the ball more than any other player on the Fever. She's also having a bit of a tough time learning the game at this level and has been outmuscled quite a bit. Indiana cannot outmuscle Connecticut. I look for the Sun to come out here with something to prove and show everyone they are to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. Take Connecticut. Thank you.

This is an ideal opportunity for the surging, Royals to not just gain more ground in the division, but put more of a distance between themselves and another AL Central rival. The Tigers are struggling. They've lost two in a row and six of their last 10 coming into this Game 2 matchup. However, the home team here has won four in a row and seven of their last 10, as both at the plate and on the mound the are starting to stride. Tigers right-hander, Casey Mize owns some respectable numbers. However, Kansas City right-hander, Alec Marsh has been absolutely stellar this season. He is 3-1 overall, with a 2.43 ERA, which includes a home record of 1-0 with a 1.84 ERA. The team has won six of his seven starts in 2024. By the way, in five of the seven outings, he has allowed one run or less. Take the Royals. Thank you.

What a matchup! Both Atlanta and Chicago are sitting in second place in their divisions. Both are solid teams. And both certainly dislike one another. They met already about a week ago as the Braves took two of three at home. Now they take it on the road where Chicago owns a very impressive, 14-9 record at Wrigley Field. The Braves started to cool off a bit. They have dropped four of the last five overall and send Charlie Morton to the hill today. Morton was already taken down by the Cubs lineup in the last series. Over his career, in 19 starts against Chicago, he is 4-8 with a 5.38 ERA. To go one further, when playing at Wrigley field, he is 1-5 with a whopping ERA of 5.86 in nine starts. Javier Assad, is 4-0 with 1.49 ERA on the campaign as the team has won his last three starts. At home this season, he is a perfect 2-0 with an anemic 0.81 ERA. I like the pitching matchup, which heavily favors the home team here. Take the Cubs. Thank you.

Not only are the Giants starting to heat up, winning their last four outings, but they have dominated Pittsburgh, taking seven of the last 10 overall meetings going back to August of 2022. As a matter fact, they've taken two of three already this season. Starting pitchers today are Logan Webb and Martin Perez. There is no question the San Francisco right-hander has been more consistent, showed better control, and has more experience. With the way the Giants lineup has started to explode, I see this game being one-sided. Take San Francisco. Thank you.

Dallas has dominated Atlanta, winning and covering six consecutive meetings going back to July of 2022. They enter this matchup 1-1 straight up on the season, however going back to last year they've covered three of their last four and seven of the last nine overall lined games. This is a scrappy team and I feel they come in here with confidence knowing they've dominated the Dream. Take the Wings. Thank you.
